How can I help?

You can support the children and the project in various ways:

  • You could financially adopt a child
  • You could finance one of our projects
  • You could give a financial donation (Donate direct online)

Adopting a child

The foundation wants to give vulnerable and orphaned children a new chance for a better future. At this moment many children live with family members who do not have the financial means to take care of these children. We want to help these children by offering them a home where they will receive love, attention and have the opportunity to go to school. To be able to offer this we are looking for foster parents: parents who can financially support these children. The costs of financial adoption are € 25,00 (US$ 30,00) per month. This money will be spend to feed the children and we will make sure that these children go to school. To ascertain continuity we would ask the foster parents to at least be a foster parent for a period of five years.

If you like, we can provide you as a foster parent with feedback on the progress of your child(ren) with photographs, information on progress at school, social growth, sport activities, etc.

Finance a project

We are looking for sponsors for the following:

School transport (€ 25,00 / US$ 30,00 per month)

The Omaruru Primary School is located at approximately 5 km. from our house. It is a long walk for (very) young children and besides it is not always safe to walk.

For € 25,00 / US$ 30,00 per month we can buy fuel and maintain the vehicle to bring all our children to school and pick them up again.

Gardening package (€ 1.000,00 / US$ 1.200,00)

We have started our own vegetable garden and planted a number of fruit trees. This is done for two reasons: to reduce the costs (eat the fruits and veggies ourselves) and to educate the children how to produce your own vegetables. However, the very hot weather in Omaruru is making it very difficult for us to succeed. To protect our plants from the sun we need to place shade cloths over the garden and build a watering system to start with drip irrigation.

The money will be spend on: 150x3 meter shade cloth, poles, wire to attach the cloth to the poles, 200 meter water hose, sprinklers for irrigation, fertilizer and 15 fruit trees.

Water package (€ 2.500,00 / US$ 3.000,00)

At this moment we buy water from the municipality for both the house as well as for our garden. This is expensive and it will therefore be better to use our own water (that is found 10 meters under the ground). There is enough water under our ground and the borehole is already there.

We need money to purchase the following: 3 water pumps, over 2.000 meter water hose, 1.000 meter electricity cable, two 5.000 liter water containers, 2 kuub stones, bags of cement, taps, couplings and other small pieces. Costs: € 2.500,00 / US$ 3.000,00

Bicycle (€ 150,00 / US$ 180,00)

Distances have a completely different meaning in Namibia. Without transport you are nobody; we all love to have a strong 4x4! However, for the shorter distances it would be ideal to have a bicycle. Quickly to town to buy some groceries or for an appointment; currently we take the car all the time. The elderly girls for example cycle to school. It would be better for the environment and for our health if we could take the bicycle. Besides, there is no driving licence needed for a bicycle so both our housemother and our gardener could use the bicycle.

For € 150,00 / US$ 180,00 we can buy a mountain bike, including a spare tire and a helmet (which is obligatory).

Sponsor our housemother (€ 2.400,00 / US$ 2.900,00 per year)

We have a well-educated housemother who will take care of our children and who can help the children with their homework. For € 2.400,00 / US$ 2.900,00 we can pay her salary for one year.

Sponsor our gardener (€ 1.000,00 / US$ 1.200,00 per year)

We also employ a gardener to clean the plot, work in the vegetable garden and to help us with the necessary building activities. For € 1.000,00 / US$ 1.200,00 we can pay his salary for one year.

Financial support

For the daily groceries, educative excursions and other expenses (light, electricity, water, insurance) we can use your help! You can directly transfer your (periodical) donation to our bank account in Omaruru: Standard Bank Namibia, Account no. 04.243.240.5, Branch code 08437343 in Omaruru, SWIFT code SBNMNANX. It is recommended to transfer the money in South African Rands – this currency has the same value as the Namibian Dollar, but the exchange rate of the Rand is fixed and that of the Namibian dollar is not (African Rands have therefore a better exchange rate).
