Dear friends and family,
5 years SIAMA CHILDREN NAMIBIA
We would like to give you a short report of our visit to the Omaruru Children s home.
We, Theo and Betty left the 3rd week of November from Amsterdam via Frankfurt to Windhoek. We arrived very early in the morning in Windhoek, rented a car and drove to Windhoek city to a book shop in order to buy English books for all the girls.
From there we left for Omaruru and arrived there after 2 -3 hours drive. We discussed the various matters with Heike and Ender and were exhausted at the end of the day. The Children s home now has children for 5 years (in the first year the children s home was built). This has to be celebrated !
We went to a camping site with the children. They were allowed to make use of the swimmingpool and a large chocolate cake and lemonate was served to them. It was such a pleasure to see all the happy faces of the children. The owners of the Omaruru Lodge were kind enough to offer a safari trip to the girls. What a splendid experience! The little ones were a bit afraid and from all sides they screamed for grandpa (Theo) when 3 elephants were chasing our car. From other friends, of the Epako Lodge we received a superb donation, We received a stove and separate oven. At the moment Appolonia cooks electronically and that is very expensive (see photo s) Again thank you very much for this donation ! Baje Dankie, also on behalf of the girls!
When we were in Omaruru, the water jumped. Theo went with Ender to the village to buy some parts. We also handled all banking matters for the coming year. It took several visits to the bank before everything was in order. After a busy but satisfying week, we had the pleasure to enjoy Namibia for another 14 days.
We also had a birthday to celebrate, Loek turned 70 years on 5 January. He gave a tremendous party on behalf of the SIAMA Children Namibia. We received Euro 2850 in total, which is a superb amount. Thank you all very much for your contribution on this.
We do hope the spring may be sunny and prosperous for you.

We also received a short report from Heike, our director of the childrens home:
Newsletter February 2010
On the 13th of January the new school year started. Two girls left Siama because their families moved to another town. Therefore we were able to welcome two new children: Nguvitjita, the nine year old sister of Jasmin and Rebekka, an Ovambo orphan who will turn 12 in February. Both settled very well and are already part of the group.
In November last year we had our Christmas Party which was sponsored one more time by Rene and Albert from Luxemburg. we were eating sheep meat from the braai and cake and all girls received a colourful Tanzanian cloth as a gift. And of course, after lunch, everybody enjoyed a refreshing bath in the swimming pool! During the holiday, several people came to visit Siama, e.g. Els and Hendrik-Jan with their family from the Netherlands. It's a pity the children were not here but perhaps they will meet them another time?!
At the moment the girls are busy with the training for the annual athletic competition of the schools. All of them also started self defence lessons to refresh the skills they have already
